our call to action
Subject

the thing about cotton

There’s more in the realm of clothing than just cotton. As we now know, synthetic clothing can contribute to the plastic soup, but even the natural fibres of cotton are not without consequences. High levels of pesticides, water use and bad working conditions for workers all conspire against this all-time favourite, but should we cut cotton out completely?

Challenge

sustainable and fair

If consumers demand change, producers will follow. Cotton is here to stay, so we need to make sure that sustainable and fair becomes the norm rather than the exception. Look at other options for cotton, but if you want cotton, make sure it is cotton done right.

Call to Action

buy the right stuff

Use your influence on social media, by spreading the word and demanding that companies do the right thing.

When you shop, you can ask how the clothes you are buying are being produced.

To help you do that, Clean Clothes Campaign made a handy PDF card that you can print out and share.
